Why and What are Out of Hours Charges?

Out of Hours Charges are what we bill clients to cover staff overtime costs. Historically, technical salaried staff have always received overtime for working extra hours. For fairness we've extended that to cover runners and admin staff. Generally, for dreaded Health & Safety and insurance considerations (and for Client Services) if a client is attending an Out of Hours session a runner will be required. Hence our Out of Hours charges include overtime payments for two members of staff.

Due to the (still) extortionate housing & rental prices in the West End, most staff are forced to commute. Those with families often from quite a way away. Public transport is dire outside of normal white-collar office hours, so we may have to charge you transport costs for early mornings, late evenings and weekends/Bank Holidays. Remember, cabs are very expensive! If a very late finish, we may have to insist on overnight stays in a local budget hotel so that our the engineer and runner are fresh & alert for other clients in the morning.

We try to find volunteers for Out of Hours sessions, so we often can't give an immediate decision about evening and weekend sessions till we've polled everybody.

For long-term or whole day projects that involve Out of Hours please contact us well in advance so we can chat & hopefully come to a mutually satisfactory arrangement about hours & costs.

Out-of-Hours charges

Add the charges below to our standard studio hourly rates (plus VAT).

* Weekdays before 09.00 & after 18.00 please add Ł40 p/h.
Evening overtime is charged from 18.00 even if the session starts, say, at 19.00.
For early starts or late finishes cabs may be required both for the engineer and a runner - or in extreme circumstances we may have to charge for overnight stays in a budget hotel.

* Sat/Sun & Bank Hols. A minimum of any 3 hours charged.
Between 10.00-18.00, Ł50 p/h, before 10.00 & after 18.00 - Ł70 p/h.
Because of the appalling state of public transport at weekends, engineer and runner travel to/from the studios may be charged at cost. For early starts or late finishes cabs may be required or in extreme circumstances we may have to charge for overnight stays in a budget hotel.
